THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN MEASURING…

Measuring is essential when it comes to making curtains and blinds, and every window is different. Here are some basic steps to measuring...

- Decide on your fixing position, i.e. in recess / on wall / on window frame:

- Check for any obstructions i.e. window catches / sockets / tiles / handles:

- Consider whether you want to hide the window frame or keep it visible, some decorative frames are too attractive to hide and should be a feature:

- Always order curtains and blinds 'width x drop'

- Make sure you specify whether your measurement is the recess width or the desired fabric width:

- Remember, if measuring a recess width, measure the top, middle and bottom, and give the narrowest measurement

- If fixing outside a recess, a 75mm overlap on both the width and drop is recommended

- If fixing a blackout blind outside a recess, a 2” overlap on both the width and drop is recommended to reduce the 'glow'

- State all sizes to the nearest mm

- Use a steel tape measure if possible so the measurement is more accurate
